PURPOSE:To accurately detect the size of an original without being under the influence of disturbance at all by detecting the size in a state where the original stands still on an original holding part. CONSTITUTION:The original placed on an original auxiliary part 2, is pressed on the original holding part 2 by closing an original cover 3. The original cover 3 is closed, so that a detecting switch 4 detects the fact, and an auxiliary lamp 5 arranged on the lower part of the original holding part 2 is driven to emit light. A photodetector 6 disposed on the original cover 3 receives the light from the auxiliary lamp 5 via the original on the original holding part 2 to detect the presence of the original, and the size of the original is identified according to the state of the detection of the presence of the original. |
