摘要 PURPOSE:To provide an optical functional element resettable in optical memory mode. CONSTITUTION:A light receiving part 2 and a light emitting part 3 are formed on a semiconductor substrate with the latter stacked on the former and a window 19 is made on the light emitting part 3 side. A resettable optical functional element is composed of an optical functional element 1 with the window 19 through which light is received/emitted and a light receiving part 4 for resetting formed on the same substrate as the element 1. The light emitting part 2 and the light receiving part 4 for resetting are separated from each other by a groove 56 on the adjacent side. These parts have electrodes 18a and 18b respectively laminated on them. The electrodes 18a and 18b are provided with windows 19 and 20 and electrically connected to each other. This makes it possible to make the optical functional element 1 carry out operations by the first input of light and to reset the element 1 from the on state to off by the next input of light to the light receiving part 4 for resetting.
