PURPOSE:To obtain a high-contrast display regardless of the thinning and the reduction in weight and the angle of visibility of a liquid crystal display module. CONSTITUTION:A super-twist nematic liquid crystal element 10 has each of uniaxially drawn phase difference films 5 and 6 held between a liquid crystal element and each polarizing plate 4. A value DELTAn.d indicating the refractive index anisotropy of the liquid crystal element is set to 0.74-0.85mum and the value DELTAn.d of each phase difference film is set to 0.30-0.40mum; and the angle of the polarization axis of a polarizing plate 4 is set to 90+ or -10 deg. or 180+ or -10 deg., the angle of the polarization axis of a lower polarizing plate 3 to 180+ or -10 deg. or 90+ or -10 deg., the angle of the drawing angle of the upper phase difference film 6 to 60+ or -5 deg., and the angle of the drawing axis of the lower phase difference film 5 to 120+ or -5 deg.. |
