<p>PURPOSE:To search a recording medium at a desired speed by searching an intra-frame encoded picture near some start position. CONSTITUTION:The recording medium is searched where information of start positions of preceding and succeeding intra-frame encoded pictures, information of start positions of preceding and succeeding groups of pictures, or information of start positions of preceding and succeeding sequences is recorded in the header of a picture, the header of a group of pictures, or the header of a sequence. In this case, the intra-frame encoded picture near the start position of the intra-frame encoded picture, the start position of the group of pictures, or the start position of the sequence is searched in accordance with the search speed. Thus, the intra-frame encoded picture is quickly and surely searched at a desired speed.</p> |
