Tandem undercarriage for self-propelled agricultural machine - is tilted by hydraulic jacks to achieve desired distribution of loads between tandem driven and steering axles

The machine is steered by its rear axle (31) and has a four-wheel-drive front undercarriage tiltable about the driving axis (1) by double-acting hydraulic jacks (8,8A). Axle-load transducers (11,11A;12) and a sensor (13) of slope of the front scoop (32) are wired to a controller (10) in conjunction with hydraulic pressure gauges (27,27A;29,29A) serving the control valves (25,25A;26,26A), which are operated so as to bring the measured axle loads (R1,R2) into line with the respective desired values. USE/ADVANTAGE - Esp. on combine harvester, ride is improved and fuller utilisation of a given width of structure is possible.
