Shaft seal for through passage in vacuum plants - has sealing part forming ring gap containing locking fluid

The sealing part (6) of the ring seal opposite the shaft (2) forms with the shaft the ring gap. The ring seal (4) enclosing the shaft (2) could have a ring chamber (8) for the fluid. The seal can have a high pressure side (9) and a low pressure side (10). A sealing lip (11) adjoined by the ring seal can be provided on the low pressure side where it is adjoined by the ring like chamber (8) for holding the locking fluid. The locking fluid can consist of a high-molecular oil, such as a vacuum oil which is introduced into the ring chamber (8) which can be sealed from the shaft (2) contact-free by one or more labyrinth ring seals (4). USE/ADVANTAGE - Good sealing action without undue wear between shaft and seal.
