Gripper for loading ammunition into gun - has sliding arm and swinging arm actuated by double eccentric shaft

The piece of ammunition (2) is loaded into a gun by a gripping device supported on an arm (20). The arm (20) carries a shaft (7) with two eccentrics. When the shaft is rotated the upper eccentric which engages a bush (5) in the sliding arm (3) imparts a sliding motion to the arm (3). The lower eccentric actuates a link (6) which imparts a swinging motion to the swinging arm (4). The piece of ammunition is thus gripped between the sliding arm (3) and the swinging arm (4). The ammunition can be released by reversing the rotation of the shaft (7). ADVANTAGE - Only a light force has to be applied to actuate the gripper.
