The input interface (1) incorporates a digitiser (4), the output data from which are fed via two parallel data channels at least to a series of executing processors (8) of the image processor controlled by a host computer (9). The number of executing processors, provided to an extent of at least one in each series, is chosen to correspond to the requirement of hte calculating power and the digitiser (4), like the execution processors (8), includes prim. and sec. memories. The digitiser (4) incorporates its own tarnsputer (5), and the execution processors (8) are transputers themselves. The digitser (4) incorporates a graphic processor.
