Electro-viscous fluids contain over 25 wt.% Al silicate having a water-content of 1-25 wt.%, as disperse phase, and an electrically non-conductive water-repellent liq., as liq. phase, as well as a dispersant. The novelty consists in using Al silicates in which the atomic ratio Al : Si at the surface is 0.15-0.8. The liq. phase is a silicone oil. The dispersant consists of an amino-, hydroxy-, acetoxy- or alkoxy-functional polysiloxane having mol. wt. over 800.
