The appts. contains a collection line (4) through which a transport medium is pumped (8). Several measurement position (2) are spaced along the collection line, and each has a specimen inlet (6) via which a specimen flows in to the collection line. A sensor (10,12) connected to the extraction line reacts to a material to be detected within the specimens. The specimen inlets are controllable by electrically operated valves (16) via a common controller (9). They are opened simultaneously for a known time, pref. between 5 and 10 seconds. ADVANTAGE - Easier calibration.
