It is common practice to point visible brickwork manually, i.e. using a mortar-board and pointing trowel. When plastic mortar, i.e. mortar with a high water content, is used, mechanical devices are known. In the case of faced brickwork using the dry process, in particular, however, damp mortar, having a very low water content, is used to prevent bloom on the bricks. No mechanical devices have so far been known for this process. This problem is solved by the invention in that the damp mortar is introduced by means of vibration into the joints from a hopper-like container (11) and compacted there by means of the same vibration. A device for implementing this process is proposed in which the necessary transport path is kept as short as possible. The invention is applicable in the building industry and in the manual building trade.
