Laminated paperboard comprises first and second flat and smooth layers (14, 12) of paperboard (0.3 to 1.5 mm. in thickness) and a first internal layer (16), 0.23 to 0.55 mm. in thickness, and having grooves and ridges (0.90 to 1.2 mm in height and 350 to 400 sets of grooves and ridges per metre of paperboard) disposed between and glued to the inner surface of each of the first and second layers of paperboard (14, 12) and one side of the first internal layer (16) being inset within the inner surface of the second paperboard layer (12) by at least 0.1 mm, the curved surface of the curved one side increasing the contact area and glueing region between the layers. The laminated paperboard may include a third layer having a flat outer surface and a second internal layer similar to the first internal layer, the orientation of the second internal layer to the first internal layer can either be the same or at 90 DEG to one another. <IMAGE>
