The assembly has partition (14) which divides the cylinder (10) into two coaxial chambers (16,18) of different length in which pistons (22,24) are coupled by rods (26,28) to upper and lower bearing eyelets (26'28'). Fluid under pressure is supplied via connections (30,32) at the top of each chamber (16,18). The middle position is set with the upper piston (22) hard against a buffer (34) on the partition (14), and the lower piston (24) against a buffer (36) at the opposite end of its chamber (18) where it is vented (40). USE/ADVANTAGE - In disconnection device for axle stabilisers, further possibility of finding middle position of assembly is shown.
