Drive for surgical lithotriptor - has swivelling electrode with geared lid to adopt alternative positions

The geared lid for an electrode pocket adopts two discrete positions when swivelled round an axle. The axle (20) has an outside thread (24) corresponding to the inside thread (26) of a drive wheel (22) fixed to the main housing. The axle is rigidly joined to a coupling (28) driver (34) and the slide ring (30) presses against the end face of the driving wheel. There is a segment shaped flange attached to the housing to engage the lid in the sealing position. USE/ADVANTAGE - Non-invasive surgery, lithotriptors. Lid moves between open and shut positions without wearing seal, using single drive.
