A donor element for thermal transfer comprising a support having on one side thereof a fluorescent polycyclic-aromatic compound dispersed in a polymeric binder, and on the other side thereof a slipping layer comprising a lubricant. In a preferred embodiment, the compound has the formula: wherein J represents the atoms necessary to complete one or two aromatic carbocyclic or heterocyclic rings.
