The roller-type capacitor includes a round container (12), a capacitor body (14) fitted with superimposed wound conductor paths sepd. from one another by a dielectric and connected to two outer conenctions (22,24). The capacitor body is divided into several windings (16) insulated at least one one side in relation to one another and/or winding sections and for each winding or section at least one electrical melting fuse (34) is fitted which is connected between the insulated connection side (30) and the outer connection (22). All fuses (34) and all electrical conductors (44,42,32,36) connecting them with the capacitor windings (16) and sections and the external terminals (22,24) are integrated in the container. USE/ADVANTAGE - For use as smoothing capacitor in DC intermediate circuit of current rectifier.
