A prosthesis for a leg which has been amputated above or below the knee is provided with a stocking which covers the whole length of the prosthesis and is made of an elastic material. The stocking has a waterproof outer surface which is formed by a coating of silicon rubber. The stocking has no foot but has an opening (26) at its lower end as well as the usual opening (26) at the upper end. The stocking thus protects the prosthesis from the ingress of moisture. USE/ADVANTAGE - Waterproof stocking for an artificial leg. The stocking prevents the ingress of moisture.
