<p>Method and apparatus for treating and controlling respiratory disorders by detecting the presence of the respiratory disorder under treatment, and, in response, selectively applying a predetermined electrical signal to the patient's vagus nerve for modulation of its electrical activity by inhibition thereof if the respiratory disorder is asthma or cystic fibrosis, or by stimulation of the vagus nerve if the respiratory disorder is apnea.</p> |
