Wheel-rim-mounted reflectors for road traffic safety - are installed in pairs for illumination by wing-mounted lamps or by headlamps of other vehicles

Two reflectors (1) are recessed into each wheel rim at diametrically opposed points and fastened by safety nuts, secured additionally by a hammer-blow on the thread. Broadside-on to oncoming traffic they are clearly visible in headlamp beams (2). They may be illuminated additionally by small lamps (3) installed under the wheel arches. Decorative hub-caps and additional rim reflectors are forbidden. USE/ADVANTAGE - On any road vehicles, including emergency vehicles at accident sites (and mobile plant in use at roadworks), visibility in winter fog is improved and collisions are more easily averted.
