1. A method for sawing stone or similar material using a chain saw comprising cutting inserts (5a-5f) of tungsten carbide each fixed by mechanical clamping (6a-6f, 7) in a housing or receptacle with a corresponding cross-section so enabling the insert to be rotated, after being unclamped, through a suitable angle for evening out the wear, characterized in that the chain comprises successive sequences of links each formed by a large number of links (1a, 2, 1b, 2 ... 1f, 2), with the geometrical axes (8a-8f) of these inserts, and therefore of their respective housing, being so positioned as to meet the axis of the chain (9) at a constant distance from the corresponding insert, with each of these axes being angularly offset with respect to the axis of the preceding link by a constant amount round the chain axis, the cutting face or the inserts being coated with synthetic diamond reconstituted in situ by a known method and the inserts being positioned to have a negative cutting angle of 3 to 6 degrees, these inserts having a cylindrical shape of revolution or a polygonal prismatic shape with multiple symmetry.
|
