A machine vision procedure for image processing allows each image point to be examined at 8 bit resolution level. The processing is based upon the use of a gradient operator allowing a histogram to be generated that relates to a specific image window. A search process is carried out by adjusting the position of the image window over a range and carrying out a cross correlation between the histogram generated and a reference. |
