In a torsional vibration damper whose operating chamber (5), which is formed by an inner jacket (17), an outer jacket (19), a rear wall (15) and a cover (13), is provided for holding a seismic ring and a viscous damping fluid, the housing body (1) which supports the operating chamber is fabricated by a reforming process in a spinning lathe, starting from a sheet-metal disc (7). In a process which is made much easier with respect to the number of clamping operations and tool changing, the sheet-metal disc (7) which is clamped within the spinning lathe within mandrel bodies is split into two disc sections (31, 33) in a splitting process, which disc sections are provided by means of subsequent reforming with the contour of the cylindrical inner and outer sheaths (17, 19) which bound the operating chamber (5) of the torsional vibration damper. …<IMAGE>… |
