<p>A method and apparatus for operating a two channel (24, 25) digital global positioning system receiver (18) for receiving coded satellite signals from each of a plurality of satellites (A, B, C, D, E, F), where the signals exhibit Doppler shifts. The method comprises the steps of continuously tracking (603) of a particular one of the satellites (A, B, C, D, E or F) for receiving information included in the coded satellite signals by one channel (24 or 25) of the receiver (18), and sequentially tracking (605) of each of the plurality of satellites (A, B, C, D, E, F), except the one particular satellite (A, B, C, D, E or F), by the other channel (25 or 24) of the receiver (18) for receiving information included in the coded satellite signals. <IMAGE></p> |
