PURPOSE:To efficiently produce formed active carbon having an excellent structural strength and adsorptivity at the same time in a relatively simple process. CONSTITUTION:Organic nonwoven fabrics having properties of 200mum to 2mm average pore diameter and >=50% porosity are laminated to a prescribed thickness, then dipped in a phenolic resin liquid having >=50% residual carbon ratio, subjected to impregnation treatment, thermoset, subsequently burned and carbonized at 1000 deg.C temperature in a nitrogen gas atmosphere. The resultant carbon formed body is subjected to activation treatment with steam or gaseous carbon dioxide. |
