PURPOSE:To constitute a photoelectric dust sensor so that the sensor can have such a structure that can eliminate almost all stray light which causes malfunctions. CONSTITUTION:This photoelectric dust sensor detects scattered light which is produced when the light emitted from a light emitting device ED hits floating dust and is scattered and reflected by the floating dust by condensing the scattered light to a light receiving device LD. The side face constituting an optical chamber 12 for detecting dust is tilted so that the plane where the surface irradiated with the light from the device ED and the optical axis crossing area in the detecting area of the device LD can become lustrous.
