PURPOSE:To allow the titled device to cope with a long time recording without deteriorating sound quality by bringing automatically sound into the long time recording mode when only sound is in the recording mode. CONSTITUTION:In case of a sound exclusive recording, an output of a signal input switching circuit 1 goes to H (high), the output is ORed with a recording tape speed switching circuit 10, an input of a tape speed discrimination circuit 5 goes to H independently of an output of a tape speed changeover switch circuit 4, and the mode is brought automatically into the longest time recording mode by designing the level of the longest time recording mode to the H level. Thus, the long time recording is attained without deterioration of reproduced sound quality at the sound exclusive recording mode in a VTR recording sound by means of a rotary head and also the tape cost per time is decreased accordingly. |
