PURPOSE:To improve the print quality by eliminating extremely thin print density at a position where a printing operation is stopped even when the printing operation is restarted after the temporary stop and eliminating white stripes coming out on bar codes. CONSTITUTION:When a printing operation is to be restarted after a temporary stop of the operation, a thermal head is driven by delaying a timing by 1 clock or 2 clocks of printing basic clock from a phase switching time dependent on a lag time from the phase switching time of a paper feed stepping motor until a paper actually begins to move. At restarting the printing operation, a printing data next to a printing data printed lastly at the time that the paper feeding operation is stopped is to be printed at least once or more prior to a regular drive timing of the thermal head.
