PURPOSE:To prevent the sharp variation of the rear wheel steering angle following the sharp variation of car speed, by setting the steering angle ratio on the basis of the car speed which is substituted to the limit car speed within a range when the car speed variation is outside the set range, in a rear wheel steering device for setting the steering angle of the rear wheels on the basis of the car speed. CONSTITUTION:A rear wheel steering device is equipped with a front wheel steering mechanism for steering front wheels on the basis of the operation of a steering wheel. Further, the rear wheel steering device is equipped with a steering ratio setting means B for setting the ratio of the rear wheel steering angle to the front wheel steering angle to the relatively same phase side in the high speed traveling on the basis of the car speed signal outputted by a car speed detecting means A, and a rear wheel steering mechanism C which steers rear wheels on the basis of the set steering angle ratio, as the front wheels are steered by the operation of the steering wheel. In this case, the limit of the car speed variation is set, and if the variation is within the set limit, the rear wheel steering angle is set on the basis of the car speed, while if the variation is outside the set range, the car speed is substituted by the limit car speed within the set range, by a car speed substituting means D, and the steering angle ratio of the rear wheel is set on the basis of the limit car speed. |
