PURPOSE: To provide a composition composed of a combination of known herbicides, free from the danger of phytotoxicity to paddy rice plant and capable of effectively controlling a wide variety of weeds from annual weeds to perennial weeds by a single application at an extremely small application rate. CONSTITUTION: This herbicide composition contains (A) bensulfuron-methyl of the formula I exhibiting excellent herbicidal activity against a wide variety of weeds from annual weeds to perennial weeds and insufficient from the viewpoint of residual effect on water chestnut, flatstage, etc., and (B) 12-100 pts.wt., especially 17-30 pts.wt. (based on 100 pts.wt. of the component A) of a pyrazole- tetrazole sulfonylurea compound of the formula II having insufficient herbicidal effect on annual broad-leaved weeds, exhibiting remarkably excellent herbicidal effect on annual weeds of the family Cyperaceae, perennial weeds of the family Cyperaceae (e.g. water chestnut and flatstage) and perennial broad-leaved weeds (e.g. Sagittarip trifolia and Sagittaria pygmaea) and having excellent residual activity. The danger of phytotoxicity is remarkably reduced by compounding the composition with the compounds of the formula III to the formula V. |
