PURPOSE:To greatly enhance the uniformity of recording by determining a correction target value to the density irregularity distribution characteristic of a line recording head when gradation recording is performed using the line recording head and correcting a density signal on the basis of a target value/ distribution value to perform recording. CONSTITUTION:When the density irregularity of a recording head is corrected, a correction target value 2 is calculated to the density irregularity shown by a distribution curve 1. When the value alpha of a ratio of (target value/distribution value) is calculated with respect to all of the parts on the distribution curve 1 to perform recording, the value alphaS calculated by always multiplying an input density signal S as the correction factor of the recording head by the value alphais used as the density signal of the correction factor to perform recording to correct density irregularity. At this time, when alpha takes a value of 1 or more, there is such a case that the recording signal alphaS after correction exceeds the range of a recordable value according to the value of the input density signal 1 but, at this time, the value of a recordable max. density signal is allotted. |
