The invention relates to a protective cap for a circular saw machine, with which it is possible to saw into concrete and rock using diamond saw blades or abrasive wheels, it being possible to suck out the remainder products which are released in the process, such as dust and water mixed with grindings, in such a manner that these products are not released into the working environment. This object is achieved by the fact that the invention is provided with a pivoting section which, in combination with a depth-adjustment mechanism, closes off the protective cap in such a manner that the remainder product can be extracted, while it remains possible, due to the use of a guide which is mounted on the pivoting section, to saw at right angles and in a straight line despite the fact that it is no longer possible to see the saw.
