The invention relates to a load cell provided with an elongate body in whose centre a hole is provided in which a deformable element is situated with the aid of which the forces applied to the load cell can be measured. Below and above the hole, groove-shaped recesses are provided in such a way that the one recess extends from the one side and the other recess extends from the other side in the body. The ends of the elongate body are provided with holes to allow connection elements to be fitted, whilst holes provided further into the ends of the elongate body are fitted with hinge elements to allow the elongate element to be pivotally (hingedly) coupled to supporting members extending transversely to the elongate element.
