Method and device for displacing objects, each object resting on a platform, with respect to a flat surface, provided with a plurality of complementary mechanisms displacing said platforms so that they are engaged with two neighbouring pivoting mechanisms which are mechanically controlled to advance them inside the surface area from mechanism to mechanism, according to a succession of linear or non linear paths in multiple directions; the device is comprised of: the surface area (1) arranged with all means allowing to facilitate the simultaneous displacement of the platforms (10) from an assembly of input stations to an assembly of output stations representing their destination after sorting; automated means (2, 20) arranged as a bidimensional meshed network on said surface (1), cooperating in order to route the platform laden with objects to be sorted and gathered, from any one of the loading stations towards the station of destination of said objects; means for identifying each of the platforms and each of the positions of each automated means (2, 20) on the meshed network; electromechanical means (31, 35, 36, 37, 38) for accurately controlling the rotation position of the platforms in one rotation direction or the other, as well as means (23) for controlling the partial rotation of the automated means (2, 20) and means for limiting the rotation torque of the automated means (2, 20), and finally a computer (24) with its software for the management and optimization of the simultaneous routing of each platform during its displacement from the input station towards the destination station.
