A device for waking up a user according to sleep episodes. This programmable biological wake-up device has a single self-contained and portable housing which incorporates a heart activity sensor (11), a component (15) for monitoring all sleep episodes by analysing a signal (14) picked up by said sensor (11), a component (15) for programming a biological wake-up time (16) for the user in any one of said sleep episodes, and a component (18) for waking up said user according to said programmed biological wake-up time (16). In particular, this device may be built into a wristwatch.
