A method for obtaining flexibility of support pillars in bump hazard conditions, involving their being split using excavation headings into pillars, characterized in that flexibilityis obtained in separated blocks with uniform rock bump susceptibility and uniform seismicity of adjacent areas of abandoned workings, starting preferably with blocks where the hazard is greatest and proceeding successively to blocks with low bump hazard, by leading a flexibility split from the border line between the blocks to a distance of 150 to 200 m if the bump energetic index for the rock constituting a block Wet > 5 and seismicity of the abandoned headings adjacent to the block As > 10<6> J/ha, 200 to 350 m if the bump energetic index for the rock constituting a block 3 < Wet =< 5 and seismicity of the abandoned headings adjacent to the block As = 10<5> - 10<6> J/ha, and up to 800 m if the bump energetic index for the rock constituting a block Wet =< 3 and seismicity of the abandoned headings adjacent to the block As < 10<5> J/ha, while on the border of the blocks reverse split working to obtain flexibility is conducted, to a distance of up to 80 m from the border line between the blocks.<IMAGE>
