PURPOSE:To enable a user to settle the conversion result while seeing arbitrary information by generating and displaying a conversion candidate character strings from an input character string and retrieving and displaying information related to a selected conversion candidate character string from an electronic dictionary. CONSTITUTION:A candidate generating part 2 refers to an input character string 1 and a conversion table 10, where plural conversion candidate character strings corresponding to this character string 1 are described, to generate character string candidates and temporarily stores them in a candidate storage part 3. A selecting part 4 selects one of conversion candidate character strings in the candidate storage part 3, and a retrieval part 5 retrieves an electronic dictionary 11 based on the selected character string, and obtained contents are displayed on a display part 6. The user can request the selecting part 4 to select another candidate. When the conversion character string is determined as the result after this processing is repeated several times to refer to information, one of conversion candidate character strings is settled by a settling part 8. |
