PURPOSE:To provide an electronic filing device which can accumulate a large capacity of picture information with high reliability and can make access to picture information at a high speed. CONSTITUTION:An operator instructs the registration of an optical disk stored in an optical disk library 5. A controller 1 reads picture data stored in the optical disk whose registration is instructed through an optical disk library input/output controller 4, and stores the read picture data in a disk array 3 through a disk array input/output controller 2. Information indicating the corresponding relation between an optical disk whose registration is instructed and the picture data stored in the disk array 3 is prepared and it is stored in the disk array 3 with the picture data. Thus, the picture data can be duplexed and the picture data can make access at high speed on the disk array.
