MULTI-LEVEL IMAGE DATA FORM CONVERTER

PURPOSE:To obtain a simple and high speed multi-level image data form converter which can eliminate the deterioration of the processing speed for conversion of the multi-level image data form and the complication due to the conventional shift control and the AND and OR operations. CONSTITUTION:A shifter 106 gives the shift control to the multi-level image data of a word unit in the number of bits forming a single picture element. Then the data are outputted for each picture element to the rows of an orthogonal RAM 108, and then the data are read out of the RAM 108 for each column. Otherwise the multi-level image data are written into the columns of the RAM 108 for each word and then read out by the shifter 106 for each row. Then the shifter 106 performs the shift control to turn the data into one word. Thus the conversion of the multi-level image data form is attained in a simple way and at a high speed.
