A method for resistance heating of the material of the input object in the form of a rod prior to hot working, particularly while during the rolling of drills, from the front of the rod to a specified length, using a current transmitted by impulses between electrodes, one of which is placed at the front of the rod, while the other is placed perpendicularly to the axis, so that it contains only a part of the non-heated gripping surface from the side of the other front turned in the direction of movement of the rod, characterized in that the heating of the rod shifted from the axis of rolling is executed successively and directly in three stages: preliminary stage, major stage and finishing stage, in a heating device, between the permanent front pass-through electrode and a side electrode movable lengthwise, during which the rod is pressed down continuously to the permanent front electrode with an axial force applied to the other front of the rod directed towards the direction of movement of the rod, which force is greater than the clamping force of the rod between the side electrode and a prismatic clamping ring.2.
