A method of producing pigment preparations by way of the sedimentation of monoazo dyes of derivatives of naphthalene sulfonic acids with the generalized formula A-N=N-B, where A stands for the radical of the active component of benzene or naphthalene derivative, B stands for the radical of the passive component of naphthalene sulfonic acid derivatives with formula 1 or a radical with formula 2, on an aluminium carrier, characterized in that the carrier is aluminium hydroxide and/or alkaline aluminium carbonate in a mixture with alkaline or ammonium metal salts of aromatic carboxylic acids, where aluminium hydroxide and/or alkaline aluminium carbonate is preliminarily mixed in the water or water-solvent medium, possibly in the presence of auxiliary agents, and to the reaction zone a dye is introduced, preferably in the form of a solution, in a quantity of at least 5 parts by weight in 100 parts by weight of aluminium hydroxide and/or alkaline aluminium carbonate and alkaline or ammonium metals salts of aromatic carboxylic acids, preferably sodium benzoate, in a quantity of at least 5 parts by weight in 100 parts by weight of aluminium hydroxide and/or alkaline aluminium carbonate, maintaining the temperature of the whole mixture below 100 degrees C, preferably 10-50 degrees C and pH 3.0-8.0, preferably 4.5-5.5, and the product of the reaction is isolated from the reaction medium, it is preferably washed with water, possibly dried and possibly crushed.<IMAGE>
