PURPOSE:To obtain a uniform hard-coat film without any defective appearance and excellent in characteristic by cleaning and activating the surface of a lens, forming a specified hard-coat film and then curing the film. CONSTITUTION:The dust, contaminant and heterogeneous layer on the surface of a plastic lens are peeled off with an abrasive to prevent the cissing of a hard-coat soln. and generation of the defective appearance such as uneven coating and simultaneously to activate the lens surface. The lens is then rotated at a low speed with the geometrical center of the lens as the axis, the hard-coat soln. is discharged on the lens surface while preventing the infiltration of the soln. onto the opposite surface, and the soln. is spread over the whole surface. The lens is then rotated at a high speed for a short time of 0.1-5 sec to control the thickness of the hard-coat film and simultaneously to repress the vaporization of the volatiles in the soln. The rotation is stopped, the lens is allowed to stand, as required, in a appropriate atmosphere, the surface is smoothed by the surface tension of the soln., and the soln. is cured by the heat, UV, electron beam, etc. |
