The invention relates to a memory card reader having two mechanical operating positions. The reader according to the invention comprises coupling means (18) capable of cooperating with the coupling means (17) of a memory card, so as to allow the establishment of a link between the internal circuits of the reader and the control and addressing means (16) of an electronic memory (15) which are contained in the memory card (3).
