The invention concerns a device (1, 1a) for preparing a stock washing liquor, using powder taken directly from the powder container (7), and storing the liquor for feeding to industrial washing or washing-up machines. The aim of the invention is to enable the stock liquor to be prepared from washing-agent powder (6) taken directly from the powder container (7) containing it, without producing any dust, and to store the liquor thus prepared for supply to industrial washing or washing-up machines. This is achieved using a stock-liquor container (2, 2a), similar in design to an ordinary wet vacuum-cleaner, comprising a tub-shaped bottom section (3, 3a) and a top section (4, 4a) which is hermetically mounted on the bottom section (3, 3a) and is fitted with an integral suction fan designed to generate an underpressure in the bottom section (3, 3a). A suction line (5) leads into the container (2, 2a), the end remote from the container being inserted into the powder (6) in the powder container (7). A fresh-water line (23) also terminates in the container (2, 2a), the water is directed on to the stream of powder passing through the suction line (5). A stock-liquor feed line (25) is operatively linked to a pump to permit liquor to be pumped from an inlet near the floor of the container and out of the container (2).
