A stack 5 of blanks 2 is held between presser element 19 and support 18 of a transporting head 11, 22, 18 and is thus delivered to a stationary abutment element 25 positioned adjacent a packaging machine (figure 1). The pressure at 19 is then relaxed and the transporting head is further moved so that formations 23 act on edges 2b of the blanks to press edges 2a against the abutment element 25 and thus align the blanks.
