A process to mfr. effect yarn on an open-end spinning machine, which has a fibre flow from the opening roller to the spinning zone along a channel is claimed. The flow of fibre is intermittently altered by means of pressure applied into the fibreflow channel. Pref. the opening roller (A) separates the fibre supply (L) into separate fibres (F), which flow in the channel (P), to the yarn production (M). The fibre is assembled into yarn by centrifugal force in the rotor groove (W) and drawn out as yarn (Y) through the roller pair (Z). An air current drawn from the chamber (I) ensures a continuous flow of fibre. By means of an intermittent barrier, the yarn develops thick and thin places, or slubs, to form effect yarn, with variable regularity. ADVANTAGE - The effect yarn is produced without causing breaks in the yarn. Normal smooth yarn can be produced on the same machine. The style of yarn can be varied.
