The distance between the centre component (11) and the work tool (10) on the tool carrier (13) is adjustable. The work tool (10), apart from being rotary, is a milling head which also executes a revolving movement around the centre component. The tool carrier (13) is adjustable and held on a slide (14) parallel to the wall where the recess is to be formed. The slide is displaceably arranged in the milling longitudinal direction on a column (18) supported against the wall. The column (18) is formed from at least two diametrically opposed sections (19), which with their lower ends are held on a positioning ring (20) around the wall recess. The sections engage in guides (21) in the slide which has a hand grip (24).
