IC engine with liquid cooling - has cooling circuit, only partially filled when cold or warm, with only steam passing into radiator

The IC engine has a system of cooling tubes and chambers (1) in the engine blocks (2). These are connected to a radiator (5) via a lower intake tube (3) and a top return tube (4). The intake contains a water pump (7), and a bypass (8) extends between intake and return. The complete circuit, including radiator, is only partially filled with fluid, in either cold or warm condition. The return tube is located, and the bypass is connected to it in such a way, that only steam passes through the return into the radiator. The return tube slopes from the engine block down to the connection of the bypass, and then slopes upwards to the radiator. An intermediate container (13) for cooling fluid is located at the deepest point of bypass and intake. ADVANTAGE - Simple construction to give high cooling performance, without special conversion of engine block.
