Hydraulic valve play compensator moves axially up and down in a guide cylinder, using two hollow cylinders which are mutually sealed and axially sprung together within a concentric pot-shaped housing with flat base and rim oil port. The first cylinder and the oil port are hydraulically linked, and a first non-return vavle on the port side, facing the second cylinder, admits oil to the first cylinder and prevents backflow from it through the port. The housing (6) has an outside dia. which is in parts reduced in the port (6.2) area, starting from the housing base (6.1). USE/ADVANTAGE - For i.c. engines, with first cylinder filled, even during long standstill, and reliable pressure medium supply.
