Arrangement for compacting foundry moulding sand - by means of pressure pulses using filling frame with guide plates to obtain compaction in areas between mould box wall and pattern

Moulding sand is filled into a chamber consisting of a pattern plate, mould box and filling frame and connected with a pressure pulse transmitter. Guide plates are mounted within the filling frame at a distance from the inside of the frame of not less than 5% of the internal width of filling frame or mould box. The guide plates (5) are arranged all round the filling frame or only on single sides and at different distances. Guide plates extend the full depth of the filling frame (3) or extend into the mould box (2). USE/ADVANTAGE - Used in making foundry moulds and obtaining uniform compaction of moulding sand in the critical areas between pattern and mould box wall with a single pressure pulse acting on the whole moulding sand surface by guiding the movement of sand particles.
