Fibre tip pen and closure cap - has sintered or foamed stopper inside cap with capillary rate matched to that of fibre tip

Fibre tipped pen has a sealing cap with an internal stopper. When the cap is positioned on the pen the fibre tip touches the stopper which is mfd. in a foamed or sintered polymer e.g. polyethylene, polypropylene or PVDF. The stopper material has a capillary action similar to that of the fibre tip. Equal capillary effect in both tip and stopper material ensures that the tip does not dry out during long periods of storage esp. in different positions. Ideally both the tip and stopper are mfd. in the same material. ADVANTAGE - The pen is stored in different positions without causing smearing and can be obtd. by machinging to high tolerances. The fibre tip pen (1) has a sealing cap (2) with an internal stopper (4) which contacts the fibre tip (3) when the cap (2) is located on the pen body (1). The stopper (4) is mfd. in a porous material e.g. various foamed or sintered polyolefins or PVDF. Both stopper (4) and fibre tip (1) are mfd. to close tolerances and the tip (1) can have a variety of profiles according to use.
